Why Post-Ride Cleaning Matters
Mud, clay, and trail grime are more than cosmetic issues. Left on your UTV, they trap moisture against metal surfaces and accelerate corrosion. Packed mud in wheel wells and undercarriage can affect performance and add unnecessary weight. Cleaning your UTV promptly after a ride protects your investment and keeps it ready for the next adventure.
Step-by-Step Guide
Let Mud Dry or Pre-Rinse
For heavy mud packing, you have two options: let the mud dry completely and knock off the bulk before washing, or pre-rinse with a pressure washer or garden hose to remove the heaviest deposits first. Either approach reduces the amount of abrasive material you are working against during the cleaning phase.
Apply Z-Care Multi-Purpose Cleaner
Spray Z-Care Multi-Purpose Cleaner generously onto the body panels, wheel wells, and undercarriage. Allow the product to dwell for 1 to 2 minutes to penetrate and loosen the remaining grime.
Agitate with a Brush or Wash Mitt
Use a soft-bristle brush for textured plastic body panels and a wash mitt for smoother surfaces. Work the cleaner into the grime using firm, circular motions. For tight areas like wheel wells and frame rails, a long-handled brush helps reach without straining.
Rinse Thoroughly
Rinse the entire UTV from top to bottom with clean water. Pay special attention to the undercarriage, wheel wells, and any areas where mud tends to pack. Make sure all cleaning product is completely rinsed away.
Dry and Inspect
Dry the UTV with clean microfiber towels or allow it to air dry in a clean area. Inspect for any remaining grime, scratches, or areas that need additional attention. Check that all vents and drains are clear.
Protect Plastic and Painted Surfaces
After cleaning, apply Z-Care Nano Shield or Ceramic Shield to body panels and painted surfaces. The protective coating makes future cleanups faster — mud and grime release more easily from a treated surface.
Important Precautions
- ●Always read the product label and Safety Data Sheet before use.
- ●Avoid directing high-pressure water at electrical components, bearings, or sealed joints.
- ●Test on a small area before treating the full surface, especially on matte or specialty finishes.
